Hey! Happy Weekend! HAPPY MAY! I can’t believe May crept up on us so soon. I have a feeling know this month is going to be a whirlwind between ending another tough semester, traveling, moving, birthday planning, and finding employment [somewhere], but I’m ready to take on the challenge.
You’ve heard me say it before, but I’m always extra-aware of the first day of the month because I use it as a token to move forward with a fresh attitude and fresh goals.
May Motivation: the BIG birthday!
- at least 1 cup of green tea each day
- at least 1-2 Green Monsters a week
- mindful eating/less snacking
- more interval & strength training – time to tone!
- limit the lattes
I jumped outta bed today excited and focused on making the most out the month of May. Well, actually…I overslept [again!] and wasn’t going to make it to my intended 10:00am spin class if I didn’t scramble out the door. So, I slipped on some spandex and grabbed a banana to eat on the go. My roommate joined me for the 1-hour class at The Resort. Exercise wasn’t a priority this past week, but of course it is included in my new May mindset, so a sweaty workout was at the top of the list today. I heart spinning!
After class, we finagled our way downtown to the farmers’ market. The streets were bustling for a Saturday morning – I’m guessing it was the gorgeous sunshine and the parade I knew nothing about.
The market was stocked with a plethora of produce, tie-dye, Chico Chai, honey, almonds, fresh bakery breads, local meats, and buckets of b-e-a-utiful floral bouquets. I wanted a bit of everything today! Alas, I came home with just a taste of the treasures:
After running a few afternoon errands in the sunshine [yes, an iced soy latte was required], I now must try to tackle of few of my tasks [yes, blogging is a “task”].
Before I leave ya’ll though, I want to take a second to thank the folks at POM Wonderful for sending me a package of their pure pomegranate juice. These bottles are so cute at just 8oz. each.
POM juice is antioxidant-rich, as scientific tests show it to be a more superior source than red wine, blueberries, acai, and green tea. Clinical studies have documented many benefits of drinking 8oz. of POM Wonderful 100% Pomegranate Juice Daily. [More on POM here!]
I will be honest with you, when I popped the cap on one of my eight bottles to give it a simple taste test, I could only manage to drink about 4oz. [half of the bottle] due to the intense sweetness @ 32g of sugar/8oz. I’m not a huge juice drinker, so I think my taste buds were a tad surprised by the purple potion. Are you passionate about POM?
That’s to say, I will not be adding POM to my daily diet, but I think a few cocktails mocktails and pomegranate glazed wild salmon may be in the plans – yum.
THANK YOU, POM People for the pleasant package!

I love your May Motivation list. Good luck! The farmers’ market looks awesome…what a deal for those strawberries. Don’t think I’ll be getting any local in Colorado! However, I did just buy my FIRST container of organic. They’ve been around for about a month but not looking good at all…finally they smell sweet!! It’s been sooo long for fresh strawberries =) I do really like POM but can’t guzzle it. It’s great with bubbly water! I just got a case as well!
Beautiful post Miss Hill! And thanks for the May motivation! Ditto with Ashley – POM is good with sparkling water…and maybe a twist of lime…and an umbrella :) “Life is far too short not to have a little umbrella in your drink.” Have a great Sunday! xoxoxo, mom
I love mixing pom into some seltzer water. It’s a perfect mix. Plus POM is super expensive while the seltzer is super cheap :)
I´m glad you´re excited, Hillary!
It looks like May´s going to be an amazing month… :D
Have a great Sunday, love!
Brazilian XOXO´s,
Gabriela
I totally use the beginning of the month to start fresh and new too!
I went to the Farmers’ Market this w/e too, gotta love the spring produce! May is refreshing for me as well. I think our goals are quite similar, good luck!
hey there, i was curious to know if you use wordpress.org software for your blog. you bought a domain and web hosting correct? i’d appreciate it if you can give me some advice on starting a blog and what you like about your hosting. thanks.
what’s the “green monster”? i’m guessing it’s a green shake… got a link to that post?
i like your blog. thanks.

Hi Zach. No, I don’t believe I use WordPress.org. I am hosted through BlueHost, yet use WordPress software. I bought my domain from WordPress awhile ago and transferred it when I switched to a self-hosted site. I did the switch mainly so I could use the Thesis Theme. Self-hosting is rather intense, but I am happy with all of the Thesis Theme capabilities.
A Green Monster is smoothie made with spinach (or other leafy greens) — they are delicious! Check out http://www.greenmonstermovement.com for more information & tasty recipes…
oo never thought about grilling a banana sandwich before. i bet it caramelizes. xx peony
I LOVE POM juice! It has so many wonderful benefits! I usually mix it with green tea…super delicious! How did you get free samples? I am jealous!
