As painful as it is to write these words: today is the last day of my summer. I know the calendar doesn’t turn into fall for another month or so [it’s almost pumpkin time!], but as a student, summer ends when school begins. That marks today as my last day of freedom from monotony, busy work, heavy [useless] textbooks, exams, and the like. I’ve got another mountain to climb and to conquer, not hitting the bottom until mid-December; but before getting anxious and overly-pessimistic, let me remind myself of all the goodness from the past three months. I can only be grateful for the healthy, memorable, simple, adventurous summer of 2010.
Weekday getaways to the river with girlfriends.
Ordering sushi on a regular basis.
Strolling the Saturday famers’ market.
Sipping minty mojitos.
Spending all morning on scenic bike rides with my dad.
Sharing local, organic honey lavender vanilla ice cream with my mom.
Appreciating special birthday dinners.
smell the roses take photos of toddler cows.
Obeying my intense pizza cravings.
Travelling to Chicago solo – only the best trip of all time.
Baking local fruit crisps in my kitchen.
Capturing the precious stillness of Humboldt County.
Pouring bowl after bowl of cold cereal with juicy peaches.
It’s a school night! Take it easy, loves.
