Today

August 24, 2011 by Hillary 15 Comments

I woke up within the 6 o’clock hour, though I didn’t have class until 11:00am.

Therefore, I drank iced coffee while doing my morning blog reading and finished an assignment for said magazine writing class.

I went to Trader Joe’s and stocked up on the essentials like Snapea Crisps, Cherry Cashew Pure Bars, and laundry detergent.

I ignored the disciplined voice inside my head.

Following my lunch of ice cream with hot fudge, I ripped open a bag of Snapea Crisps – holy addicting! – and ate a raw carrot. I can’t help it ;)

I took a 1 hour nap.

I made a tasty batch of quinoa granola.

I did a couple loads of sweaty gym laundry.

I ate a salad beast a la The Fitnessista’s inspiration.

Today, I DID NOT exercise.

Swimming and yoga were both on the agenda for this afternoon, but I erased them both (from my Google calendar) when my body was cursing me this morning. Double (workout) days and a lack of sleep don’t equate to a healthy college student… or anyone for that matter. As important as it is to focus on fitness, it’s equally important to focus on: rest days. Thank you for the reminder, Gina!

Later, friends!

Hill

I read the same Focus On: Rest Day post and loved it. Sometimes I’m so antsy to stay active, but our bodies know best!

I struggle to remember that rest is equally as important as activity! Jealous of your date with my two favorite men…Ben & Jerry ;)

Ice cream for lunch is totally acceptable – especially if you are going to follow it up with veggies ; )
