I woke up within the 6 o’clock hour, though I didn’t have class until 11:00am.
Therefore, I drank iced coffee while doing my morning blog reading and finished an assignment for said magazine writing class.
I went to Trader Joe’s and stocked up on the essentials like Snapea Crisps, Cherry Cashew Pure Bars, and laundry detergent.
I ignored the disciplined voice inside my head.
Following my lunch of ice cream with hot fudge, I ripped open a bag of Snapea Crisps – holy addicting! – and ate a raw carrot. I can’t help it ;)
I took a 1 hour nap.
I made a tasty batch of quinoa granola.
I did a couple loads of sweaty gym laundry.
I ate a salad beast a la The Fitnessista’s inspiration.
Today, I DID NOT exercise.
Swimming and yoga were both on the agenda for this afternoon, but I erased them both (from my Google calendar) when my body was cursing me this morning. Double (workout) days and a lack of sleep don’t equate to a healthy college student… or anyone for that matter. As important as it is to focus on fitness, it’s equally important to focus on: rest days. Thank you for the reminder, Gina!
Later, friends!

…but I’m not finding a recipe for quinoa granola listed under your recipe tab…
wow, you’re quick! soon…
Awesome! I am totally having one of those days. And Snap Pea Crisps are amazing.
…so delicious, as in I could easily polish off an entire bag.
I read the same Focus On: Rest Day post and loved it. Sometimes I’m so antsy to stay active, but our bodies know best!
yeah, what is ‘quinoa granola’? do you add puffed quinoa, or ??? sounds like your day was just what the doctor ordered…hope you’re feeling back to your ol’ self by tomorrow! oxo, mom
no ‘puffing’. just add raw quinoa in with your oats… extra protein, ya know! a recipe is to come…
p.s. I did your yoga workout for you :) oh my – the instructor put me into poses I didn’t know how to get out of! have you ever done ‘sleeping tortoise’? the cute older woman next to me called it ‘suicidal tortoise’ – cracked me up! I hope I can get out of bed tomorrow!
LOL! no, I have never done ‘sleeping tortoise’.
I struggle to remember that rest is equally as important as activity! Jealous of your date with my two favorite men…Ben & Jerry ;)
Ice cream fo lunch is acceptable haha! Those snap crisps are so so good! I can never stop eating them :)
Just wanted to let you know I made a sunshine smoothie for breakfast this morning & it was awesome! And bonus points because my boyfriend actually liked it too :) Thanks!
Oh yes, rest days are a glorious thing!
Ice cream for lunch is totally acceptable – especially if you are going to follow it up with veggies ; )
Looks like you had a pretty awesome rest day :)
