Banana Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter Bars

November 7, 2013 by Hillary 11 Comments

It was bound to happen… another peanut butter recipe that is.

I needed – like had to immediately! – to use up the remainder of the sub-par PB loitering in my fridge.

Since I’m on a baking kick – can’t stop, won’t stop – I whipped up a batch of peanut butter bars.

I was completely ignoring the fact that I already have two dozen Cinnamon Sugar Peanut Butter Cookies in my freezer

… and that I really had no final destination for these bars… other than my mouth.

My favorite chocolate chips were on mega sale, so I took that as a sign to bake this recipe for no rhyme or reason.

Other than, once again, I am on baking binge.

The inspiration for this recipe came from Peanut Butter Runner. I tweaked her recipe, and then added a banana. With all of my (intuitive) sugar consumption of late, I counted on the banana to balance out some of the guilt… go figure, it tasted delicious, too!

These bars sound great! I love using bananas as a natural sweetener, plus adding some chocolate chips is always good, too!

You are making me feel like I need to pick up my baking! My only problem is if I baked this much, I would end up eating them all.

I would be more than happy to help you clean out your freezer and your counter (or wherever you are currently storing these). I love peanut butter and banana and chocolate, so these have my name written all over them.

Ohh, this is one of the PB recipes you spoke of…YUM!!! And I hate when I switch peanut butters (when I’m feeling all adventurous) and then the PB is “sub-par”…that’s the worst! Glad you used all of yours up! Now back to the good stuff!
