Howdy! I’m not as wordy as I was last night, so for those readers that appreciate less wordage, this is for you.
Breakfast.

Hot mornings call for cold cereal.

Today wasn’t as intense as yesterday in terms of my class load. I had one class this morning, and one later this afternoon, both of which were dismissed early.
My planned pre-heat, early morning run was slept through, so I hit up the gym after my lab. I love The Resort, so I’m not complaining.

My roommate and I did a killer 3-minute plank set tonight that I want to incorporate into my regular routine. Ab exercises are my least favorite, but what’s 3 minutes?
We both zoomed home and threw our dinners on the stove: turkey burger for her, veggie burger for me… Dr. Praeger’s always.
Burger + Pesto, Chevre, Roasted Bell Peppers, Organic Farmers’ Market Arugula & Lettuce all wrapped UP in a Sprouted Wheat Tortilla – oh my!
After scraping my plate clean, I had a hankering for dessert; I quickly realized I had depleted my sweet reserve. I debated making a trip to the organic fro yo shop, but then I was reminded that I still had a couple of chocolate calcium supplements, also courtesy of my HLS swag. Two Adora + lots of ice water was all I needed – I’m stuffed. I’ve got to learn to wait out my ‘hunger’ for a bit before diving into dessert… such a tough habit to break.
1 Milk. 1 Dark.
Each Adora disk contains:

This lady has some reading to do. Gotta start off the semester right.
Toodles!

Adora What You Do Q’s:
Did you enjoy your major in college? If you could go back to school, what would you want to study? How important do you think it is to have a job/career related to your degree? What’s your dream job?
I started out in biology in college, and I had an internship at a microbiology lab. I LOVED my work at the lab, but realized I didn’t really want to continue… I changed my major and graduated with a sociology degree… considering it “life learning” that I could apply anywhere (and nowhere!?).
:)
I have pretty much had my dream job, as a spa director and skin care specialist.
My new dream job would be bakery owner. :)
I am a biochem major, but if I could start over, I would probably be a public health major. Thankfully I can still try and do my masters in public health!
I have yet to find a gym that beats my college’s gym (Virginia Tech). It was all sorts of amazing. And free to boot (well…I guess it’s not technically free, and I have student loans to prove it). But anyways, your gym looks so inviting!
If I could go back, I’d definitely go into nursing, something more specialized than psychology (B.A.) and counseling (M.A.). I guess it’s never too late to go back, but after my thesis, I swore I’d never go to school again. My career as an Office Manager doesn’t relate to my degrees, but I’m hoping to edge my way into HR…regardless, neither are my dream career. Still trying to figure that one out :)
Ahhhh, totally miss college! I went for education, as you know, but if I could do it all over again, I’d probably go back for something very similar to what YOU are going for Ms. Hillary! Enjoy every minute of college because you’ll miss it once it’s over!
Dream job? Somehow combining baking + healthy living counseling in one. Haha, does that even go together? ;)
Ummm, Court… I’m pretty sure that’s my exact dream job, too. Looks like we need to start a biz together!
A 3 minute plank! You go girl! :)
You are so lucky that you can use your school’s gym…I go to the University of Florida, which is HUGE and has the HUGE gyms to go along with it, but they are constantly packed! I ended up getting a membership to a gym off campus just so I could have access to the classes, machines, and weights without a 45 minute wait :[
I’m graduating this spring with my degree in English! I’d love to go into publishing and eventually be a senior editor, but these days I’ve also found myself daydreaming of a career in food…either as a chef or food writer. Maybe there is a way to combine my two passions? We shall see!
How awful… I’m probably paying an arm and a leg (through tuition) to have access to our new gym, so if it was too crowded to attend, I’d put up a fight ; )
Congrats on graduating! My dream job combines writing with food, too.
During college, I would have told you I hated my major which was bioinformatics. Now I wouldn’t change anything! The only thing I would have done is stayed and finished up my 2nd major in computer science. Dream job is a Physician Assistant or working at Google. (Random, I know!)
A major can help get a job, but I think most jobs require learning as you go. Though in my job right now, I would have really loved to have that comp sci degree…
If I could go back to school, I would get my Masters or PhD in psychology and go on to practice psychotherapy or cognitive behavorial therapy.
I, too, have been thinking about a psychology degree. But I’ve also been thinking about a nutrition degree. And I just recently began fantasizing about a health and wellness center, maybe holistic health center. I think I would love doing that.
That wrap looks AWESOME!
My majors were advertising & psychology. Although I took some nutrition classes, I wish I would have taken more. But advertising & psych both have come in handy in my current pursuits in nutrition, so I’m not complaining :)
That’s a good idea to wait until you’re less eager before eating dessert. I’m terrible at waiting!
I studied English, journalism, and women’s studies in college. I work for a law firm now, which is only very slightly Englishy (especially because we work with pharmaceuticals), but I’d really like to do more writing. I’m just intimidated by the journalism market right now.
Intimidated — why…?
After seeing your post yesterday, I checked to see if my school has an indoor track, and it does! I have never been more excited!
I love my major (Nutrition), but it is definitely a challenge for me! I have never been a math and science kind of girl, so it takes some extra work on my part!
Same here — don’t love math + science, but love nutrition.
I loved my major – Psychology and Communication Studies. I’d probably take more nutrition courses if I went back to school, but science is not my strong point. :)
I graduated high school over 10 years ago, and what I wanted to be then is what I’ve become – a writer. But, I’ve yet to finish my degree! I realize now (for me) that a degree has more to do with my personal goals than my professional goals, and personally, I really want one! I’d also love to get a nutrition degree. I find it fascinating.
I’m currently studying chemical engineering, and I definitely want to use my degree because school is freakin’ expensive!! I’m not sure exactly what I want to do with it though… I think I’d like to work in innovations for a food company, improving the nutritional profile of their products :)
P.S. I’m addicted to the Adora disks. What do I do when they’re all gone!?
Combining running and PR – that would be EPIC!
Runner’s World!
I was a journalism and political science double major in college, and I loved everything about it. I LOVED working for the newspaper, and learning all about the industry. If I could go back to school (which is SO tempting lately because of all of the status updates while I sit here on my red couch, blogging), I think I’d either get my masters in higher education or a law degree.
My dream job? To be an editor at a women’s health magazine. A girl can dream, right!?
What a cool workout. I like the variety you can get at college fitness centers. Such great gyms. Or at least the one I went to and any I’ve heard about.
I majored in Radiologic Sciences and Nuclear Medicine. I absolutely love my job. I am 24 credits away from my RN and really should go back. But life does get in the way. I would, in the end, love to be a Physician’s Assistant. But, where I live now, they really make no more money than what I do now. Plus the radiology degree has expanded my horizons.
Hey! That wrap looks delicious!!! I want it! And I’m still in college and just started my junior Yyear. I switched to the College of Business this semester and I’m not exactly sure what I want to do later in life. Work in some kind of office. My dream job would be to work for some kind of food company, maybe like Whole Foods or something like that. Not completely sure.
I start school on Monday…final year for my mechanical engineering undergrad!!! Over the past few years, I’ve developed a love for all things nutrition and sometimes wonder how my life would be different if I changed my major to nutrition. I love what I’m doing and have been able to teach myself a lot about nutrition on the side. It’s a good outlet from my studies, and my dream is to open my own health food store one day.
Mmm Adora disks…
Well, I’m in college now. My major is dietetics, because I really enjoy all things nutrition. The classes thrill me! I took a class called “Food Prep” and it was a lab and lecture where we’d learn about how to prepare all different types of food in the lecture, then we’d do it in the lab and eat all of the wonderful food :]. I love learning about my major, but, realistically, I don’t know if I’d enjoy being an RD. I may change my major to business because of this. That’s what makes college majors so tricky to choose. So much you have to factor in. You’re choosing your life to some extent, not just how you spend your next 4 years…
