My family gets their panties in a bit of a bunch when I don’t blog. I guess it has been a few days since I last saw you, or actually, when you last saw me. You’d think I’d be posting all of the time, utilizing my final precious pieces of freedom; instead, I’ve been soaking up all of those moments to their fullest capacity. It just so happens that my last week of Winter Break turned out to be one of the happiest. Funny what happens when you let spontaneity take the wheel. Blogging is a part of my life, not my life.

Remember all the way back to Wednesday when I tried my hand at kettlebells? I told y’all how I was already sore immediately afterwards, and that I hoped I’d be mobile in the morning. Perhaps I jinxed myself… it’s Sunday evening, and I am still in an incredible amount of pain. I can’t imagine this to be simply delayed-onset muscle soreness. No, I’m pretty sure I pulled/ripped/tore every muscle between my knees and my rear end =/
Though, since I’m one tough crazy cookie, I’ve managed to exercise everyday since then [except for yesterday]. Oddly enough, cardio exercise doesn’t hurt as much as simply walking around or going to the bathroom. I tried foam rolling – there was no way my legs were having any of that.
Speaking of exercise/running, I completely forgot about my long training run last week. I guess I wasn’t into my training 100% by then because it totally spaced my mind. Well, I wasn’t going to let that happen again in Week 3. Despite getting a mere few hours of sleep last night, I was ready to crank out my scheduled 75-minute run, and I also had the desire to do in on the treadmill.
Running in place for 75-minutes sounds like the epitome of hell for some people. Even some days I dread the ‘mill. However, today I didn’t mind it one bit. It felt almost like 75 minutes of meditation, as I just let my thoughts run wild with the speed of my feet.
treadmill thoughts.
“Maybe I’ll write a blog post today titled ‘Ten Treadmill Tips’.”
“Or how about a post about strategies I use to avoid a hangover.”
“These running tights were an excellent score for $11.99.”
“I definitely have runners’ buns.”
“I love you, PB… but why must I burp you up as I run?”
“I’m dehydrated!”
“Can’t wait for that Starbucks iced latte.”
“Maybe I’ll just call it good at 60 minutes.”
“I’m adding this song to a new running playlist.” [random, indeed.]
“You’re doing the entire seventy five.”
“20 seconds…10 seconds…4, 3, 2, 1 DONE!”
long run #3.
- 30 minutes @ 7.0mph [3.51 mi.]
- 15 minutes @ 7.1mph / 15 minutes @ 7.2mph [3.60 mi.]
- 15 minutes @ 7.3mph [1.84 mi.]
Total: 75 minutes / 8.95 miles

Maybe some time I will write a post with my personal treadmill tips, or even a post about my experience with alcohol [if you wish?], but now I’m going to go enjoy my last evening sans school assignments, and get in some solid sleeping for the start of the spring semester. I have a feeling Semester 8 could be epic! :)
It’s a school night!

You’re crazy to do so long on the elliptical! But good for you, though. I could never do that :)
treadmill, girlie, treadmill ;) i’m not a fan of the elliptical.
this is awesome… your mind sounds like mine!! ;) I bargain with myself on the treadmill all the time – trying to get out of what I originally planned to run – then giving myself a reward (mmm, almond butter packet!) for doing what I said.
I also love your attitude – your semester WILL be epic!
<3
I’m looking forward to running outside and then running a half marathon in May! And outside dining. :-)
I ran 9 miles on the treadmill today, too. My longest run on the TM to date. It was bearable, but I much prefer running outside.
This is totally my thought process when I’m on the treadmill. :) I do find it strangely meditative (is that a word?). Sometimes I’m able to get in the zone in a way I never really can when I’m outside and worried about cars, etc. I think maybe I’ve just learned to love it over the years.
Congrats on a great run! I hope this next semester is wonderful!
Ha! Love your running thoughts! Hope you had a great weekend!
Good for you for running that much on the treadmill! I am not a fan of it lately. This spring, I’m looking forward to my youth running & nutrition internship, the first week went really well!
Great run! Those are amazing times! You’re such an inspiration!
My 22nd birthday!!
Some days I dread the thought of running on the treadmill, but others I just get “in the zone” and can bust 6 miles out no problem. Weird. I much prefer the treadmill to running outside though!
I’m loving the running thoughts! My mind goes completely random on the treadmill sometimes!
I had my long run today too, girl! I wish it was sunny so I wouldn’t have to use the dreadmill, but at least I got to watch the Parent Trap:)
The treadmill thoughts made me smile. I do the exact same thing.
I started running on a treadmill again over the break for the first time in a while and found it a lot more boring than I remember. I started out running on treadmills, but have since been running outside. I have a hard time staying on the treadmill for a long distance, but can easily do it outdoors. I want it to be warm again ASAP! lol
I’d love to hear more of your treadmill thoughts!
I love your treadmill thoughts! Sound pretty similar to mine on most days haha.
The longest I can go on the treadmill is 5 miles…outside I can go forever. Very impressive! I do love running thoughts…it is the best time to think!
I’m pretty sure I have the most random thoughts on the treadmill! And while running in general. That’s awesome that you stayed on for 75 minutes – I have been using it a lot lately for my training.
Good luck with the start of your semester!!
GREAT run!! ahaha i love your treadmill thoughts… quite similar to mine!
Wow, that looks like an intense run! I’ve been on the treamill for around 75 minutes before, but I definitely wasn’t running the whole time! haha
I love your treadmill thoughts…I could never last that long!
What an awesome, quick long run! I’m looking forward to the sunshine, spring races, and our friends’ wedding in Austin!
I would love to hear your treadmill tips!! :) And consider yourself lucky that your family reads your blog, mine rarely does!
