Goldilocks GIVEAWAY

April 14, 2011 by Hillary 151 Comments

We all know that I’m an oatmeal fanatic. The thought of enjoying a piping hot bowl of oats is what gets me out of bed on most days. I suppose you could just call me Goldilocks.

Not only do I look forward to eating my morning oatmeal – whether it be steel cut with chia, dried cherries & pecan butter or oat bran with flax, walnuts & dried apricots – I actually look forward to the oatmeal-making process. To me, oatmeal isn’t something that comes out of a brown envelope, poured into a bowl with tap water and stuck into the microwave on high. That would be the definition of oatmeal according to my roommates, and, unfortunately, to many others – they’re missing out!

That said, I am the Nutrition Nut on the run and, occasionally, I don’t have time for my oat ritual. Naturally, when I stumbled upon Umpqua Oats, I knew we were a match made to be: “nutritious, delicious, and fast.”

Umpqua has taken instant oatmeal to a whole new level. Their ingredient lists are short, simple, and do not include any mystery sugars; they are sweetened with sucanat (pure cane juice with only the water removed). This process preserves all of the vitamins, including: iron, calcium, vitamin A, among others.

How about them creative combos!

002

Not Guilty. Naturally sweetened with apples and blueberries (only 4g of sugar). Flax and chia seeds are added for extra nutrition and protein.

006

Take a Hike. Hazelnuts, almonds, walnuts, pumpkin seeds, and apricots. Simply trail mix in a cup!

008

Lei’d Back. A vacation in a cup: a combination of cashews, macadamia nuts, coconut and papaya. It will have you saying “aloha”!

004

I’m nuts about all natural oatmeal. Aren’t you!?

011

Wholesome & hearty – check!

018

Simply add H20 and you’ve got breakfast in an instant.

* * *

I know many of my readers are fellow health nuts, students, and foodies on the run, so how would y’all like a case of Umpqua Oats in your kitchen for emergency a.m. meals?

001To Enter:

Leave a comment with your go-to morning meal on busy/rushed days.

Extra Entry:

Search NN on the Run for an oatmeal combo that appeals to your taste buds and leave the link in a comment.

Giveaway ends this Sunday @ 6:00pm.

And if you’re thinking what I initially thought about the bulky (though adorable!) cardboard containers, I’ll let you know that Umpqua hasn’t forgotten about keeping our planet clean ‘n’ green. Check out their suggestions on reusing your oatmeal cup.

I hope your Thursday morning is off to an energetic and delicious start!

Off to schooooool…

Hill

I’m a little obsessed with oatmeal, but I will confess to having the instant all too often. I start work at 6AM and I’m not much of a morning person at the moment, so it’s nice to just settle in at work and make some quick instant oats. I always add peanut or almond butter, one or two forms of fruit and usually some nuts (most often almond slices!).

I’m in Alberta Canada so all these great products I see on so many blogs I can’t even get here, it’s rather heartbreaking lol!

I was expecting all things beer, brats and pretzels in Leavenworth (not really my jam) 🍺🥨🧀, and while there’s plenty of it, I was delighted to find plenty of delicious eats for my “foodie” taste.

We went to all of these 3 places more than once during our quick stay - highly recommend!

☕️ @argonautespressobar: Located at one end of Front Street, this adorable coffee bar has delicious espresso drinks, breakfast items, and the best view!

🥐 @tumwaterbakery: Incredible pastries, avocado toast on artisanal bread that’s a feast for your eyes... and I’m eager to go back and try their wood-fired pizza!

🍜 @yodelinbroth: Literally some of the best food I’ve had (ever!), and that’s saying a lot. I had the Yodelin soup with housemade wild PNW halibut bone coconut curry broth, udon noodles, heaps of veggies and wild salmon - it was nourishing to my core as we ate it outside in 30 degree weather. I even bought some of the broth to recreate this meal at home, yum!

We had snow much fun exploring the picturesque Bavarian town of Leavenworth, WA for a much-needed mid-week getaway to the mountains. 🏔

We stayed in a cozy little cabin @logecamps right on the Wenatchee River (one day I’ll be back to stay at the stunning @phleavenworth), played in Enchantment Park, took a drive to Lake Wenatchee, and discovered some of the best food downtown (I’m saving my food recs for another post).

Nestled between the snow-capped Cascade Mountains with the river running through town, it’s quite magical in the middle of winter. ❄️ I’m already dreaming of heading back for some summer adventures!
