The infamous Sierra Nevada Brewing Company is in my backyard, literally. If you’re new to town, the hoppy scent is unfamiliarly pungent; though, you quickly get accustomed to Chico’s unique perfume.
Of the many bustling Friday nights that I’ve dined at the brewery’s taproom and restaurant, I’ve never ordered the flight of beer. With my family in town, it was a perfect (balmy 90F) evening to sit outside on the patio and order 16 shot glasses of their world-famous beer.
We sampled from the lightest beer to the darkest, reading each description and rating them as we drank. Not surprisingly, I liked the lighter beers best, with the popular Pale Ale, classic Old Chico Crystal Wheat, seasonal Summerfest and Blonde Ale standing out as favorites.
We’re too much alike :)
I “sobered up” with their veggie Greek flatbread for dinner – tasty, but not necessarily blog worthy compared to their beers – while the rest of the fam ordered burgers.
16 small sips of ale and I’m about to pass out onto my bed. I suppose you can say I’m a lightweight ;)
