Why hello there! It’s been a while – over 1 full week – but let’s just continue on from the vegan avocado basil pesto recipe that y’all seemed excited about.
I know this is old news, but August already!? I don’t know how it can be. I start classes again in less than 3 weeks; it’s time to soak up the last of the sunny summer relaxation. I’m all about balance, so as much as I plan to continue the late, summer nights socializing with new friends, I also have a few plans to keep the productivity wheels turning.
The Fitnessista’s 10 Ways to Make August Awesome post gave me instant inspiration Monday morning, as I did my daily blog reading while eating a peachy bowl of oats. Miss Gina is always good for a dose of motivation.
I’m a fan of goals, so I came up with a few for the final month of summer:
-
FIND MY INNER YOGI AGAIN
My yoga practice has decreased significantly this summer after a revitalizing spring semester of sun salutations and savasana. I haven’t found myself wanting to go to yoga much (perhaps because I’m exhausted from lifting heavy sandbags and swinging 26lb. kettlebells), but I am definitely missing the benefits (read: Ode to Yoga) of practicing regularly.
-
SWIM
It’s been a blast adding the pool into my fitness routine; especially with the summer heat, I crave water workouts. I’m also not complaining about the little golden glow I’m getting on my shoulders from the outdoor activity.

register for 1 fall race (half #6!?)

POST RECIPES!
Unfortunately, I don’t have any plans that compete with the epic August 2010 adventure that was the Healthy Living Summit last year, though I am dreaming BIG for Summer 2012 :)
What August activities are on your calendar?
xo Hill
Go find your inner yogi girl!!! :)
Yoga is my on my list of August things to do too! This month is crazy for me. I have a warrior dash race, training for my first half started this week, I will be attending HLS for the first time, and I am hoping to have to time to visit home too.
What fun!
Good luck on your August goals! My big one is to kick the first bit of marathon training’s butt!
Keep up my HIM training!!! With the heat, it has been crazy hard, but I know I can do it! Good job on signing up for another HM!
Welcome back!! I can’t wait for more recipes. I need to get organized this August… my room and schedule are all over the place :)
I like all your goals! Maybe I should make some too. Posting more recipes should definitely be on my list.
I love goals :) I’ve got hood to coast at the end of the month and a big goal is prepping for my workout class I’ll begin to teach early September… I auditioned and got the gig!
How’s everything going for you? Your test is this weekend right?
Congrats! What is the class?
Yes, it is – I’m extremely anxious!
You’ll do great! It’ll be sports training… So much fun :)
Is that fountain in Chicago? ‘Cause I’m pretty sure that’s the fountain from Married with Children. :-)
August is just going to be busy, busy! I have plans for vacations in September and October.
Yes, Chicago it is! :)
You have some great goals! One of my main goals this month is to not stress out. My job on campus starts tomorrow and then class and then marathon training and then all of my extra clubs. I vow to stay organized!
Good luck, girlie. Starting up a new school/work/extracurricular schedule is always a tad overwhelming. Don’t forget to fit in some stress-reducing exercise :)
I have big plans for August too… goals I should say… great blog – first time here, but certainly not the last time! Great read. Wish I could be training for HIM, but my knee has been giving me some pain… so I’ve been swimming… and swimming. Anyways, great blog!
Yay, swimming!
Oh lawddd, I need to start yogifying again!!!
I love your verbiage, little girl… always makes me laugh. I fin-a-lly “yogified” today, and it was fantasical :)
