Today was the first day of my last fall semester of college… undergrad, that is.
Back in April, I posted about the courses I’ll be taking this semester [The Final Fall Four], but since then I swapped out a class, so now I’m taking Nutrition Counseling instead of Nutrition and Physical Fitness (which I’m looking forward to taking in the spring).
Fall 2011 Classes
CONSUMER HEALTH – ONLINE
Examination of major health care consumer issues from historical and contemporary perspectives. Discussion of cost, availability, and quality of health care and their relationship to political and economic activities. Identification of national, regional, and local health trends affecting consumers. Analysis of individual and collective consumer strategies.
MAGAZINE WRITING
Techniques of writing nonfiction articles and features for publication; where to find material, markets. Student writings may appear in campus publications such as The Orion.
- I learned today that we are required to create a blog – check!
NUTRITION Counseling & Education
In addition to this class, I am participating in a supplemental nutrition counseling internship; one of the objectives of this extra ‘class’ is to prepare students for the opportunity to be a mentor for the FitU program on campus.
NUTRITION THROUGHOUT THE LIFECYCLE
A survey of nutritional needs from conception to death, including the relationship of nutrients to health and well-being and factors which affect food selection of different population groups.
Also in the mix:
I am the Communications officer – a weekly commitment – for the Nutrition & Food Science Association (a.k.a. Nutrition Club). Believe it or not, I’m looking forward to having a full plate again (pun intended) – good times ahead!
Hopefully I’ll be a bit more disciplined about blogging and sharing my nutty recipes, too. Oh, and I must register for a race or two here pretty soon because this runnin’ nut is craving a fun, new training plan.
I have a 7:30am spin class on the agenda tomorrow to start off my Tuesday, so I better hop into bed… It’s a school night.
See ya!
HP
P.S. I crossed off one of my 10 goals for 2010… better late than never. I’ve parallel parked twice in the past couple days without causing damage to Little Blue or any other vehicles. It’s the little things.

Are you a student?
What is/was your favorite thing about a new academic year?
Nutrition Counseling sounds like a good class! And I love that (new?) pic of you in the sidebar, you look gorgeous!
I am a university student! I am excited to take a few different history classes this year :)
School starts next Monday for me! I’m looking forward to a few nutrition classes myself! Happy studying :)
I love reading about fellow student-bloggers! I am in grad school (counseling psychology) and heading into my last year! I am scared/excited to start my internship this fall! Also, last night I started writing in my brand new planner…such a nerd :)
Congrats on your first last day of college! I graduated in May and remember counting down and highlighting all of the “significant days” :D I’m sure you’ve heard it a million times already, but the time flies – enjoy it!
I just started my classes yesterday and it’s exciting to be back into the school groove. I almost took nutrition throughout the lifecycle too, but opted for childhood nutrition health and safety. Congrats on the parallel parking! Parking 1 mile away >>> parallel parking.
Oh, enjoy your last year, it goes by WAY too quickly!
I’m going to sound like a huge nerd saying this but, I loved a fresh, new notebook at the start of every year. No idea why, just did :)
Good luck finishing up school. It will be over before you know it.
Congrats & good luck! Sounds like you have a fun but busy semester ahead.
This fall marks the first time in my life where I will NOT be returning to school. I graduated from law school in May and spent the following two months taking a bar exam review course (fun fun!). During college I was always beyond excited for fall semester, but let me tell you, I was singing a different tune in law school.
I’m halfway through my sophomore year right now! (I’m graduating a little early). This year my favorite part has been moving into my new apartment — I love it! I do always get excited for the new classes, though. :)
I just read this post – I guess I missed it a few weeks ago. I love all of these classes. Your degree sounds great. I was a journalism major for undergrad and now looking to go back for either a masters in public health or bachelors and get my R.D. license. Either way, so much work. I’m scared.
Are you planning to go on to grad school after this? And what kind of jobs can you get with your degree?
