larabar lovin’.

November 13, 2011 by Hillary 17 Comments

As an athlete and student on the run, I’ve tried my fair share of bars. I can’t believe I didn’t like date-based bars back in the day because they are now my go to source of energy. One of my favorite bars on the market is the lovely Larabar.

Why? For one, their super short and simple ingredient lists fit into my food philosophy {each bar contains just 2 to 9 all-natural ingredients}, and secondly, they’re extremely flavorful and satisfying.

Larbar kindly sent me the cutest box of 4 {new to me} flavors, including the newest addition to their menu: Chocolate Chip Cherry Torte.

The TASTE TEST

Banana Bread: I don’t know how they do it – it tasted exactly like a slice of banana bread with only 3 ingredients: dates, almonds & unsweetened dried bananas.

Chocolate Chip Cherry Torte: I love the Cherry Pie and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough flavors; this was a melody of the two – mmm!

Gingersnap: A NEW FAVORITE! Perhaps it has to do with my current ginger obsession {more on that later!}.

Pecan Pie: I enjoyed this along with a tart Granny Smith apple as a healthy snack – tasty, but it didn’t take a spot on the top of my list.

Notice the empty wrappers. I devoured all 4 bars before taking any photos for said review. I’ve since restocked my Larabar box with my new favorite flavors for another week of healthy, whole food living on the go.

What are you favorite Larabar flavors?

Sending much love to the Larabar clan in Denver, CO…

Hillary

I love the coconut cream pie! I wish they made little bite-sized ones that could serve as a sweet and healthy treat after lunch or dinner. That would be the perfect lunchbox addition!

I want to try the new cherry + chocolate one so badly, but haven’t been able to find it yet. Chocolate Chip Brownie is my favorite right now, but I have high hopes for the new cherry one :)

I love the gingersnap one! My other favorite is chocolate chip brownie. I’m obsessed with ginger though, especially dark chocolate with ginger (Green & Black’s).

I love the cherry pie! I’ve even managed to make my own that taste pretty much the same. I haven’t experimented with other flavors yet, but I also like the apple pie.

I love Larabars! At first I didn’t really care for the taste of dates, but now I just cannot get enough! My favorite flavors are Carrot Cake and Coconut Cream Pie!

I love Larabars! I’m really tempted to try my hand at making them myself because they are pretty expensive. The upside to their price (from my bank account’s and my waistline’s perspectives) is that I am choosy about when I eat them. Could otherwise easily blast though a box in a couple of days! :)

Favorite flavors: Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough; Cherrie Pie; Gingersnap

I haven’t tried the lemon flavor either… I think it’s about time I try ’em all.

This challenging year was all about appreciating the little things while living through some really BIG things. 2020 had more than a few lessons to teach us all. Through a pandemic, pivotal change in presidency, and loud cry for human rights, I see very clearly how privileged I am. It was the year to let go of plans and lean in to a new perspective.

After all, hindsight is ②⓪②⓪.

Best thing about 2020... for me, it’s been relationships - virtual and IRL.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
One of the goals that I set for 2020 was to make one new local friend in Seattle (seriously something I wrote down as I began the new year moving across the country). While I’m happy to say that I did so (during a pandemic), I feel fortunate for the virtual friendships that developed, too.⁣⁣

I’ve gotta take a second to give a shoutout to my newest soul sista @weeksofwonder. You helped me get after it during my second year of entrepreneurship with a hefty dose of #2020 mayhem. 🙏🏼⁣⁣

Wendy and I met here on IG, and what started as a business relationship and accountability partner has turned into a special bond that transcends any walkie-talkie or social media app. This creative spirit has not only inspired me to get after it and dream bigger as an entrepreneur, but in the same way has encouraged me to honor rest and play: whether it’s giving each other kudos on Strava for tackling a run, building badass business plans and packages, or simply holding space to share the wins and the many woes, personally and professionally, of a memorable year. Having Wendy in my corner has led to some serious momentum and a sense of consistent community.⁣⁣
