Well, hey there! Happy Sunday to ya.
This morning I woke up knowing I had a 9-mile training run on the agenda, but I wasn’t at all eager to get out from under my comfy covers. I begged my Dad to ride alongside on his bike for moral support, layered up, laced up, and was almost out the door when my new running toy read “low battery”. I gave it a few minutes to juice up and crossed my fingers it would hold out for the entirety of my route.
Just a little after mile 7, I looked at my watch to see a black screen… and then some ugly words shot out of my mouth. Why now? Why my long run? Ugh, frustration. I tried not to let go of all motivation and cruised along home, which I calculated – using gmap-pedometer – to be approximately 2 miles.
On the bright side, it was a b-e-a-u-tiful morning, I felt strong, I conquered the hills, and I #gotitdone.
I fixed my grumpy attitude with pancakes and iced coffee.
I made my favorite pancake recipe gluten-free using oat flour and, again, it was a success!
You can find the adapted recipe on my NEW RECIpage – woo!
I am so excited about this new addition to the blog. Casey + Emily have created an amazing recipe platform for the blogging community. I have many many more recipes to enter, so in the meantime, my original recipe page is still up for your browsing pleasure.
Enjoy the day!

I had a rough run this morning and cheered myself up via gluten free pancakes too!!!
Good job on the run! There’s no way I could run hills that fast. Way to go!
Question for ya Hillary: What are your top 5 pre-run meals when you’re running 6-9 miles or so? I’m looking for a good list and since you are obviously a runner like me I need some new ideas! :)
Thanks! Ang
Ugh, it’s the worst when my watch dies on me mid-run. It’s like all my motivation to run died too! Haha. ;)
Glad you were able to finish the run though! Great splits, too!
Great running inspiration post! Just made my half marathon training schedule and am excited to start. Love your pick-me-up pancakes, too!
