Thursday Things

March 7, 2013 by Hillary 14 Comments

1. I am completely out of nut butter. How must I start my day?

2. I can’t keep up with my overflowing laundry basket now that I’m exercising regularly again. It doesn’t help that my new apartment has an itty bitty washer and six loads per week is the norm.

3. Yesterday – after I deadlifted 145 pounds and Rx’ed the WOD – I scolded myself for scrutinizing my body in spandex.

4. This weekend, I will get to be with ALL of my family for my grandpa’s memorial. I couldn’t be happier.

5. Banana Walnut Chocolate Cookie Cake is going to happen in my kitchen real soon. It will be joyous. Want to come over? I’ll make extra strong coffee, too.

6. My mother keeps me on my toes. After receiving not one, but two, emails from my mom written in her (much appreciated) “red pen”, I made a couple of changes to Weekend Things – one regarding a “PG-13” reference, and the second, for a silly spelling slip. What would would I do without her?

7. Also happening this weekend… a Whole Foods excursion. I hope I can manage not to break the bank!

8. I’m okay with permanent blisters on my palms if it means I get to play at the box and sport toned arms this Spring.

What are ya’ll doing this weekend?

Whoa! You’re outta nut butter? I don’t think I’d wake up if I was, haha. I wanna come over for #5 and I completely agree with your #8! I’m proud of my callused hands.

    Hillary.
I really admire your courage to blog about what really goes on in your head about your body. I know I have those same thoughts too, but I only blog about the positive stuff. Thanks for sharing those details; it reminds me I’m not alone!!

But in other news, I’d come eat cake with you!! You gotta post about that if you make it :)

This weekend I’m looking forward to my sorority’s formal function the “Cream Rose Ball” aka 2 hours of dancing :) I’m going with my friend Darien and I can’t wait to shake it all night long!

I hope you have fun with your family! Have a great Thursday too, doll!!

Deadlifting 145 lbs is super impressive – I can’t even comprehend that much weight! Have fun on your Whole Foods excursion! I am totally jealous. And that Cookie Cake sounds sorta like one of the best things ever. Can it be dessert for another game night?

I used to live in an apartment with a stackable washer/dryer and hated it! Bad memories. I allow Whole Foods to rob me weekly and love everything, especially the vegan donuts from the bakery. They’re dangerous! I hope you have a nice time at your grandfather’s memorial. :)

I moved from Wyoming to Arkansas. The climate is so different here. I love that I can run (more like trot!) outside in March, but I know the summers are going to be SO SO SO hot! :) Love your blog, keep it up!!

I pray Whole Foods doesn’t break the bank every time I go too! :) The hubby and I are going to a baseball game, I’m going to get my cycle on, and hopefully do a Pinterest project I’ve been eyeballing!

mmm cookie cake and extra strong coffee sound pretty good right now! I feel you on always doing laundry… mine is always only workout clothes or my army uniform. Putting on ‘real clothes’ is a rare occurrence around these parts!

❷⓿❷⓿ - moved clear across the country to ❷⓿❷⓿

- moved clear across the country to a new state for the second time
- hopped from one AirBNB to the next for 6 weeks while looking for a house to call home
- made new friends, virtually & IRL
- binge watched more TV shows than I can recall
- leveled up as an entrepreneur: hitting milestones with my virtual assistant and @beautycounter businesses
- voted for a new president
- ascended new trails and explored alpine lakes of the Pacific Northwest
- adapted: to Zoom holidays, takeout, and masked faces becoming the (temporary) norm

This challenging year was all about appreciating the little things while living through some really BIG things. 2020 had more than a few lessons to teach us all. Through a pandemic, pivotal change in presidency, and loud cry for human rights, I see very clearly how privileged I am. It was the year to let go of plans and lean in to a new perspective.

After all, hindsight is ②⓪②⓪.

Best thing about 2020... for me, it’s been relationships - virtual and IRL.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
One of the goals that I set for 2020 was to make one new local friend in Seattle (seriously something I wrote down as I began the new year moving across the country). While I’m happy to say that I did so (during a pandemic), I feel fortunate for the virtual friendships that developed, too.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I’ve gotta take a second to give a shoutout to my newest soul sista @weeksofwonder. You helped me get after it during my second year of entrepreneurship with a hefty dose of #2020 mayhem. 🙏🏼⁣⁣

Wendy and I met here on IG, and what started as a business relationship and accountability partner has turned into a special bond that transcends any walkie-talkie or social media app. This creative spirit has not only inspired me to get after it and dream bigger as an entrepreneur, but in the same way has encouraged me to honor rest and play: whether it’s giving each other kudos on Strava for tackling a run, building badass business plans and packages, or simply holding space to share the wins and the many woes, personally and professionally, of a memorable year. Having Wendy in my corner has led to some serious momentum and a sense of consistent community.⁣⁣
