1. Monday night activities included a trip to Urgent Care for four stitches in my right thumb. A finger splint wasn’t the accessory I was planning to wear to a NYC wedding; but, apparently, washing dishes isn’t as innocent as it seems. #ouch
2. Chia bars are the ideal travel snack to pack… as are single servings of Justin’s almond butter. #healthytraveler
3. Two one thumb’s up for sunny Sunday hikes.
4. Two thumbs down for reoccurring knee pain <insert frown>.
5. Egg whites and mashed banana can be made into “oatmeal” — go figure! — but it doesn’t even compare to a creamy bowl of super oats.
6. Did you see this image I posted on the Nutrition Nut Facebook page? Me in a nutshell.
7. Make this curried lentil soup — it is simple, spicy, and warms up your body on a cool, fall day.
8. I’m on Day 9 (of 10) of a sugar detox and am quite surprised at how “easy” it has been. I’ll post about my experience after my travels.
9. I am making these gluten-free pumpkin oat pancakes as soon as soon as I’m done with said detox/home from NYC/have a working right thumb.
10. While I am away on the East Coast for a few days, stay tuned for posts from three fabulous guest bloggers (and a giveaway!).

What are your typical travel snacks?
Have you ever been stitched up? (ahem, treadmill fail)
er mer gerd. I’m sorry about your thumb :( You are so dang cute and you have a rockin’ bod. I want your legs.
Oh man, how did you do that to your thumb? :/
Oh no! I’m so sorry. No hand-shaking for you at the wedding – just hugs :) And I guess they won’t be asking you to wash any dishes!
Your poor thumb! Get better soon. #6 is SO me. I’m the opposite of a girl who drinks vodka.
So sorry to hear about your thumb!! Ouch!! I love the some e-cards… I’m like I love squats and almond butter, too!!
Bummer about your thumb! I guess it could have been worse, right? Have a great time on the East Coast!
Yes, lucky it was just a thumb!
That’s terrible! I’ve only had stitches when I was one years old, so luckily I don’t remember them! I’m a total pain wimp so I hope I don’t have any accidents! So sorry that happened to you!
Oh no – sorry about your thumb! Sending healing thoughts.
I have to say that I totally laughed at your “didn’t know washing dishes was so dangerous” comment. Only because about 2 weeks ago, a drinking glass fell over and broke in my sink as I was washing dishes. I didn’t know, and I stuck my hand in it to clean it and pulled out a nice sliced knuckle on my right thumb. I was alone (boyfriend was out for the day) and panicked, so I walked myself the half a mile to the closest hospital. $35 co-pay and an hour later I had a bandaged hand and a tetanus shot, but no stitches (thank goodness). But it was a pain to keep clean for a good week. I hear your pain girl! Heal up!
A very similar story! I think the tetanus shot may hurt more ;)
Ouch! Excited to hear about your sugar detox experience.
How did you make those oats in the picture?
They look AMAZING!
Can you please send the recipe?
Thanks.
I followed this recipe minus the walnuts. I added unsweetened coconut and a scoop of almond butter. I prefer the real deal though — yes to heart-healthy oats!
Great, thanks. I also love oats, but would love to try these.
Wow, quite a unique recipe. Really does help some of us looking for new and creative food ideas. I’m not a fan of walnuts, but they will be easy to replace with something else :)
I didn’t know there was a Tabata app. Thanks for sharing!
Oh no! So sorry to hear about your thumb. I think it will make a cute accessory! ;)
I love that ecard. Hilarious!
I used to make oatmeal that way when I was trying out the Paleo diet… so delish, but I totally agree… nothing compares to oatmeal! I hope your thumb feels better :-( Who knew washing dishes could be so dangerous!?
