Happy Friday, my lovely readers!
Today I am sharing a few summery things I’m crushing on lately. Then, it’s a short day at work because I’m cruising up-state for the 3.5 mile Moonshine Trail Run tonight!
Eats
To sip >> Yogi Muscle Recovery Green Tea — iced! I’ve been making pitchers of this tea and sticking it in the fridge for a refreshing lunch or afternoon beverage. Turmeric is a natural anti-inflammaoty; hence, why it’s great for active bodies.
To break a fast >> Organic Honey Chia Bread* (from Costco) with Trader Joe’s organic crunchy peanut butter, sliced banana, cinnamon, and local honey — I can’t get enough of this… seriously, I wake up craving it every morning. It’s too hot for beloved oatmeal.
*I still eat a relatively low-gluten diet, but it appears in my “diet” from time to time… like with organic whole grain bread with simple ingredients.
To indulge >> Trader Joe’s Coconut Caramel (70%) Dark Chocolate bar — holy yum! I am not typically a caramel gal, but this bar is divine. No, it’s not organic and doesn’t have the best ingredient list, but I’m not eating it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner ;)
Exercise
To get outside >> Evening walks with P. It’s been so gosh dang hot, that it’s not the least bit appetizing to run in 100+F degree weather; this means, on work days, I stick to indoor workouts, and when the sun sets, I shake out my legs with a light stroll.
To train >> Night runs. As I just mentioned, running in triple digits isn’t my cup of tea, but when you have a race to train for, sometimes 9:00pm runs at a cool 97F are necessary.
Life
To workout to >> Waves (Robin Schulz Remix) & Latch (Disclosure) — both of these tunes make my body dance.
To soften my strands >> Macadamia™ Natural Oil Healing Oil Treatment — My hair likes to get poofy in the summertime – ugh – so adding a drop to my ends helps to tame my mane and keep the ends moisturized.
Check out my other summer beauty must haves.
To feel free >> Ditching the scale. Oh, how good it feels to live intuitively and guilt-free.
What are you loving lately?

a cool 97F?! haha. must try that tea!
Hi Hillary! I love your Instagram pictures so much, but for some reason literally every time I try to follow you on Instagram, it just wont let me! When I try to search “hillontherun” on the app, no users pop up and when I try to go directly through your blog, it doesn’t ever give me the option to follow you for some reason. Do you happen to know why that would be? If not, no worries! I just though I would ask :) Love all of your blog posts and pictures so much, you are such an inspiration.
Thank you! Instagram is too fun.
Hmmm, that’s strange. Have you tried clicking the Instagram button in the top right corner of my blog?
Hmm nope still not working! It will change to say “following” but then changes back immediately. So weird. Do you ever see a notification saying “sstjames is following you”? Sorry to be such a bother.
Weird. I looked at your followers and it doesn’t appear you are following me. I’d contact Instagram. Sorry, I’ve never encountered this issue.
So strange! Thanks for looking into it though :) Have a great weekend!
It’s been hot in SF so I can’t imagine how hot it is up north! I love the Yogi teas (although I haven’t tried your specific flavor). The morning toast I have been doing is mashed avocado (w/ red pepper flakes, salt, pepper), olive oil, mozzarella, tomato and fresh basil from my new plant! So…basically a caprese toast w/ avocado.
Scrumptious! I’d love that for lunch.
I’ll definitely have to try the Trader Joe’s dark chocolate caramel bar (I’m obsessed with caramel). You should check out their Speculous Cookie Butter chocolate bar, too (usually close to the check out). It’s life changing – just don’t look at the ingredients :)
I am just lovin’ LIFE! :)
i am a tea hoarder and that muscle recovery tea picture caught my eye!
do you take aminos for muscle recovery, or do you just drink this tea? :)
No – I don’t take an amino acid supplement regularly, but I consume them via whole foods :)
