Tuesday Tidbits | 6.24.14

June 24, 2014 by Hillary 8 Comments

It’s been a few days since I have posted anything, and it’s been even longer since I have shared ten Tuesday tidbits.

1. Last weekend, I got to meet the talented Caroline in San Francisco. How cool is it that blogging can bring a Cali girl and a New Englander together?

2. After seeing Britt and blends have so much fun at The Dry Bar, I treated myself to some pampering in The City on Saturday. Yay for blowouts!

3. Crunchy Chia Energy Bites are my kind of mid-afternoon pick-me-up.

4. Yesterday, I shared 5 Gluten-Free Summer Recipes on Heather’s blog. That watermelon salad though.

5. Tonight, I made one of the aforementioned recipes: Summery Salmon with Apricot Peach Salsa. Easy peasy preparation with gourmet flair. Boyfriend approved.

6. Last Thursday, June 19, was my 25th birthday. Sadly, I was too wrapped up with school and getting ready for a weekend away (see #3) that birthday celebrations sort of got put on the back burner. I’ve declared a “re-celebration” for this Thursday.

7. A couple of months ago, I got lured into purchasing an executive Costco membership. The cashiers look at me funny when I have three items sliding down the conveyor belt: organic raspberries, a pound of hemp hearts, and a jumbo bag of multigrain chips.

8. Almost every other night, P and I go on after dinner walks. I’m either a bit competitive about the 6-week walking challenge at work, or I enjoy the gentle physical activity and orange sunsets after a long day.

9. I finally bought heavier dumbbells… finally! I tested them out with some sunny supersets on Sunday (via this workout) and I am still sooo sore — holy glutes! Silly idea after consecutive rest days.

10. Happy Summmmer!! I’m working on my seasonal bucket list for 2014.

Occasionally I will buy only bananas at Costco lol. It’s the only store I don’t mind running in for one thing because they feed me ;) I get the same $1.39 look that you are talking about!

Happy belated birthday! I’m jealous that you guys take after dinner walks! I’ve been trying to get my fiancé to walk with me every night after dinner and he is not too keen on the idea. Love your blog!

I hope you’re able to re-celebrate your birthday doing something awesome! That salmon looked so good, too. Love the apricot peach salsa!!

Leavenworth, WA • Where To Eat🍴 I was expect Leavenworth, WA • Where To Eat🍴

I was expecting all things beer, brats and pretzels in Leavenworth (not really my jam) 🍺🥨🧀, and while there’s plenty of it, I was delighted to find plenty of delicious eats for my “foodie” taste.

We went to all of these 3 places more than once during our quick stay - highly recommend!

☕️ @argonautespressobar: Located at one end of Front Street, this adorable coffee bar has delicious espresso drinks, breakfast items, and the best view!

🥐 @tumwaterbakery: Incredible pastries, avocado toast on artisanal bread that’s a feast for your eyes... and I’m eager to go back and try their wood-fired pizza!

🍜 @yodelinbroth: Literally some of the best food I’ve had (ever!), and that’s saying a lot. I had the Yodelin soup with housemade wild PNW halibut bone coconut curry broth, udon noodles, heaps of veggies and wild salmon - it was nourishing to my core as we ate it outside in 30 degree weather. I even bought some of the broth to recreate this meal at home, yum!

winter wonderland getaway ✔️ We had snow much winter wonderland getaway ✔️

We had snow much fun exploring the picturesque Bavarian town of Leavenworth, WA for a much-needed mid-week getaway to the mountains. 🏔

We stayed in a cozy little cabin @logecamps right on the Wenatchee River (one day I’ll be back to stay at the stunning @phleavenworth), played in Enchantment Park, took a drive to Lake Wenatchee, and discovered some of the best food downtown (I’m saving my food recs for another post).

Nestled between the snow-capped Cascade Mountains with the river running through town, it’s quite magical in the middle of winter. ❄️ I’m already dreaming of heading back for some summer adventures!
