Now that summer is officially over – it’s raining today! – I suppose I should tally up my Summer 2014 Bucket List efforts. While the season may be over, I certainly do not plan to put my unfinished projects to rest.
1 // Get on my bike – outside!
I don’t think I have hopped on my bike since the FlatFlower 30+ mile ride with my dad at the end of April. I haven’t a single good reason why I should not use my shiny new bike more regularly — excellent cross-training and eco-friendly.
I rode my bike a few days one week in July (and loved it!) when my car was getting worked on, and I went on a 30-mile bike ride over the 4th of July weekend with P and my fam; other than that, my efforts to ride my bike as a means of transportation were close to none.
2 // Get a henna tattoo.
Never ever in my life I am getting permanent ink on my body, but I’d like to get a temporary henna design to enjoy for a couple of weeks. There are henna artists at our Thursday Night Markets!
3 // Launch my health coaching website/services.
At this point in time, I am aiming for sometime in August. Excited, scared, hopeful, excited, doubtful, optimistic… I am starting simple in terms of web design in order to focus on the actual coaching. I will be sure to make a large announcement when my (second) website is up and running!
I did create my health coaching website, but I have not launched it yet. More importantly, however, is that I have begun seeing paying clients!
If you (or someone you may know) may be interested in a free initial Health History consultation, please email me: healthyhill3 {at} gmail {dot} com
4 // Hike a new trail.
Somewhere, anywhere… where it is not deathly hot. Yosemite would be nice again.
Sadly, and surprisingly, this didn’t happen. I still really want to hike Lassen and revisit Yosemite. Excuses, excuses, but the very hot and smokey summer days (all the California fires) did not invite us to the mountains.
5 // Make homemade ice cream.
Specifically fresh apricot ice cream and coffee coconut milk ice cream… and even more specially, made with my mama. I won’t allow myself to buy the KitchenAid ice cream attachment though… no, that reads a bold, red “dangerous.”
Yep! Mom & I made coffee chocolate chip ice cream; but, unfortunately, it was a bust – great flavor, but icy.
6 // Give my living room a face lift.
I have lived in my apartment for a year and a half now, and my living/dining room area has never been put together. Perhaps it has something to do with having three different (wonderful!) roommates in that time frame, but still… it needs some design and decor help stat!
With the immense help from my mom during our Mother-Daughter weekend in early August, I got a solid start to this daunting project. There is still some progress to be made like filling a couple of frames and one more blank wall, but at least it is a lot more “put together” than it was. World Market to the rescue!

I am not sure if I’ll make a Fall Bucket List, as I’ve done in the past; but, if you plan to, Brittany has an epic Fall bucket list for inspiration!
#3 — freaking awesome. congrats!
I finished all but two things on my summer bucket list! However, I did go hiking (just not a new hike), so I was close to finishing all but one. Luckily, the weather here in San Diego is still warm so there’s still time for a bonfire :)
I never made a bucket list, but I love this idea! The henna looks gorgeous!
Lassen is beautiful! Hopefully you make it there next summer. :)
My one thing was try paddle boarding and I finally did it 2 weeks ago! Barely made it in time for summer, but it did happen!
I still want to try SUPing, too!
I was very unsuccessful with my summer bucket list. We only crossed one thing off. Whoops! It was a fun one though – Darius Rucker country concert. Oh well, there is always next year.
Love the henna tattoos. I also would not get inked permanently, but I like the look of this henna. I need to see if we have something like this on the East Coast.
Was Sam Hunt at the concert, too!?
No, his opening act was Joel Crouse.
Love this post. Congrats on the health coaching!
Nice list! It’s funny, I hardly ever do seasonal bucket lists, but I enjoy reading other people’s lists.
