My appreciation for yoga stretches beyond the hip openers and detoxifying organ twisters; in fact, the physical movement of practicing yoga falls second to the art of being present on my mat.
Let’s be honest here, I am no bendy yogi with a religious dedication to my practice, but it does play an integral part in maintaining my healthy lifestyle.
Back in college, I was fortunate to have free access at the WREC to all the yoga classes I desired (take me back!). Not coincidently, this point in time was when my practice was at its strongest. While I don’t flow as often (or at the level) as I did a few years ago, my ode to yoga remains genuine.
Now, in the field of corporate wellness, I am lucky enough to have free on-site classes at work, and my recent ambition has been to attend at least one 60-minute class per week. Some classes are to calm my mind from a busy morning; some classes are to release my angry hamstrings from a weekend run; and some are to acknowledge my body’s intricate inner machinery.
Not only do I use particular yoga poses to balance the burden of continual running and repetitious lifting, but as an intuitive exerciser, I visit certain poses at different time of the month (i.e. when my monthly visitor stops by).
The simple act of hanging out with my legs stretched vertically up the wall, or enjoying a luxurious moment in down-dog does wonders for unwanted symptoms that often tag along with said monthly female visitor.
During that sluggish week of each month, the last thing I want is to feel more “weighted down” than I already do, so Stayfree Ultra Thin Liners® are my fitness must-have when I want to hit the mat. With the flexible and airy support of these liners, I am able to focus on the present… and not my (.)
Do you practice certain poses during your “time of the month”?
