I spent my birthday weekend (26!) in Lassen Volcanic National Park. We only spent Saturday night in a tent, but it was a good way to “warm-up” to sleeping al fresco after nearly a decade since my last camping trip.
We hiked a total of about 7-8 miles between Saturday and Sunday, and while that doesn’t sound like much to one training for a half-marathon — those 8 or so miles of hilly hiking had me huffing and puffing after a solid exercise streak. The views were worth it though; it was refreshing to be disconnected and out in nature for 48 hours with good company.
Saturday, our first hike took us to Terrace Lake and Shadow Lake – how serene!
Then we joined the tourists on the Bumpass Hell trail to the smelly sulfur pits.
26 years young!
I love Lassen! It’s so beautiful there. What a great way to celebrate a birthday.
Those pictures are so beautiful! Glad you had a great birthday! :-)
what beautiful pictures! no better way to spend a birthday than in the great outdoors :)
Beautiful pictures! You two are so cute!! Sounds like a great birthday :) Also, 7-8 miles sounds like A LOT. I hiked 4 miles a couple weeks ago and MAN I was tired! Haha
Sounds like my kind of weekend! Hope that 26 is a great year for you, lady!
