Summer. Fall. And now winter. 2017 has been a helluva year. Did anyone think it was an easy one? Uhh, yeah… not for me either. But boy, has the good stuff been as bountiful as the challenges and the hardships. As the year comes to a close, and I compare (figuratively) where I was in my life in January to today, I am astonished with my “risky” decisions, and the choice to choose uncertainty over predictability time and time again. Life really does begin at the end of your comfort zone.
One of my favorite traditions at the end of each year is to send holiday cards. It’s a tradition that my mama and I have been doing for since I was young. I have nostalgic memories hand-making 100 cards — the stamps, cardstock, glitter, ribbon, and gel pens spread out across our large dining room table for weeks. We’d chip away at the intricately designed embossed cards on dark winter nights until the stack of personally signed cards was ready to send to family and friends near and far.
Despite 2017’s trials and tribulations, the abundant laughter and joy shines through the messy stuff, which is what I wanted to capture in this year’s card. The past few years, I’ve used Minted to design my personalized photo cards (last year’s ornament card was darn cute!), and I’ve been more than happy with my cards four years in a row. There are endless artistic, whimsical, classic, rustic, and cheerful designs to choose from which then you’re able to customize to fit your own style.
This year I chose to go with a non-photo card, which had the option to include photos to the back. I went with the speckleton kraft envelopes to match the rustic feel of the cards. And I can never say no to the free recipient addressing. When I receive my cards, I simply stamp on my return address, slap on a winter postage stamp, and to the post office they go.
If you’re planning to get some holiday cards in the mail soon, Minted is the way to go — get 15% off your order with the code SNOW (expires 12/4).
Happy Holidays!
With love,
Hillary
Love your cards this year! I haven’t gotten into sending out holiday cards yet, so I’m thinking that whenever I become a mom is the year I will start doing it. After all, I do like receiving them!
Wishing you a wonderful holiday season & a Happy New Year!
