Happy New Year! We are 5 days in to 2016 — how does it feel? I’ve been spending the last couple of weeks pondering what I want to make out of 2016… what exactly it is that I want to do with this fresh, new year? I don’t know what happened with 2014 and 2015, but I haven’t made new year’s resolutions aspirations since 2013.
I enjoy the feeling of having goals to strive for, achieve, and cross off a (virtual) list: i.e. I’ve made a handful of bucket lists throughout the years, as seasonal goals arise.
When I got to pondering about 2016 – and this different year that lies ahead of me (as P is away for nursing school) – what continued to come up was this space — Nutrition Nut on the Run.
2015 was not a remarkable year for Nutrition Nut. I did not give my blog the attention and dedication I have in its previous five years of existence. In 2016, I want to reconnect with this creative space, and bring it back to life. It is a piece of me that I miss, and – with P and I doing the very long distance thing this year – I hope to relinquish my passion with this virtual healthy living community.
master my camera:
Food photography is something I continue to be inspired by. In June 2015, I bought my very first DSLR camera — a beautiful Canon Rebel. I mistakenly lugged it around Europe for two weeks without the knowledge I desired to take crisp photos. This year, I want to feel comfortable using my camera — whether it be for food photography or life adventures. While there is a countless amount of educational information online, I’d love to take a hands-on class.
create at least 1 new recipe each month:
At least 1 new recipe, but hopefully more. What type of recipes would you like to see?
post 3x/week:
Quality over quantity. In the earlier days of Nutrition Nut, I sometimes posted up to three days per day (!). These days, the blogging business is all about evergreen content. I will always share life snippets from time to time, but the plan is to have timeless recipe, exercise, and wellness posts to come back to again and again (i.e. one of Nutrition Nut’s most popular post is from 2011: 6 HIIT Treadmill Workouts).
produce email newsletter 1x/month:
I sent out the first Nutrition Nut Newsletter in September 2014, and I have thoroughly enjoyed sharing self-love and seasonal wellness content via these personal emails. My hope is to define a theme and have consistency with this newsletter by producing a new “issue” on a regular basis.
develop my personal brand:
Despite writing Nutrition Nut for over 6 years (!), I don’t feel satisfied with my brand: it isn’t complete… or, in other words, it has yet to be fully developed. In June 2014, I had a professional portraits taken by the lovely Caroline Winn (check out her Personal Branding Photography). This was a start. And then, in January/February 2014, I had Julie give my blog a face lift. But there is work to be done… Read: The Blogger Project’s Know Your Brand.
Y’all are going to hold me accountable, aren’t you? ;)
Cheers to 2016 and all that you want it to be! xxoo
