Here it is… the fourth and final New York City post of photos galore (a mix from my camera and iPhone).
Did you miss the others?
We were a tad tired Sunday after cuttin’ a rug on the dance floor at the wedding the night before, but that didn’t prevent Kendra and I from setting our alarms early to take advantage of our last full day in The Big Apple. We had several bucket list items to check off.
The condo we stayed at in Brooklyn wasn’t far from the Brooklyn Bridge, so we walked there – naturally.
On the opposite side in Manhattan, we used our handy dandy smart phones to find our way to the 9/11 Memorial. It’s certainly a site to see. It was difficult to fathom the trajedy that took place on the exact ground where I stood, where two inverted fountains now lay peacefully like tombstones.
I regret not going inside St. Paul’s Chapel, the historic church neighboring Ground Zero. Not only is it stunningly ornate, but it holds a lot of history — next time.
From there, we walked down to the water to hop on the Staten Island Ferry. This wasn’t an exhilarating ride by any means, but it was pretty darn neat to be out on the Hudson River on a beautiful Sunday morning and see Lady Liberty for the first time.
After checking a few items off of our list, it was time to eat. Note: the Financial District is not foodie haven. Desperate for energy, we settled on a $4 piece of New York pizza. Good enough.
Then we zig-zagged our way through the crowds, asking for advice along the way for which subway line would land us in Little Italy.
Glad we made it there, because boy was it charming! We took another necessary “pick-me-up” break at Ferrara. The espresso gelato with iced espresso concoction had my name all over it!
Home again, home again via the subway to rest up and freshen up before our last evening out for dinner and drinks. Afterwards, we met up with my fam for games, and um… another slice of pizza. When in New York!
