2015 Holiday Gift Guide for Her

December 7, 2015 by Hillary 3 Comments

Hi! How are we 18 days away from Christmas!? I don’t know about y’all, but I have seriously got to step up my holiday gift shopping game. Thank goodness for online shopping and speedy shipping though, right?

I put together a gift guide for the guys last week, and today I’ve got one for the ladies: from mamas to sisters to aunts and friends – whoever you may be gifting to this season. If you couldn’t guess already, this might also be my not-so-secretive list to Santa – shhh.

2015 Holiday Gift Guide For Her

The Body Book

I’ve heard excellent things about this book. Ever since Health Coach and Wellness Blogger, Nicole Crane, shared a review on her blog, I’ve been eager to get my hands on a copy of this feel-good read.

“It’s a guide to maximizing your strength and endurance so that your body can take you everywhere you want to go in life: to all of your success, to the love of your life, to your passions and adventures.”

Stitch Fix Gift Card

Despite creating a style profile and pinning fashion favorites, I’ve yet to order my first fix. If you know someone who subscribes to Stitch Fix (an online personal styling service for women), or who wants to try it out, a gift card  — towards a box of cute clothes and accessories that is delivered to their door — is an easy gift.

Lucy Training Socks

These are my favorite fitness socks. I only have two pairs, and if they are clean, I always chose them over any other low-cut training sock. They are thick and comfortable, and are definitely durable (since I wear them often!).

Fresh Mask Must-Haves

This set is calling my name. I am sure most any gal in your life would enjoy this set of four, all-natural face masks for at-home pampering.

Succulent Terrarium

A gift for those with a green thumb. Succulent terrariums are quite “in” and can be found in Etsy shops and even at Trader Joe’s. Better yet, you can DIY (do it yourself).

Ugg Sequoia Solid Knit Beanie

Just as I included in the Gift Guide for Him, a soft ‘n’ cozy beanie is a great stocking stuffer for guys and gals.

Lululemon Gift Card

For those who appreciate quality, fashion-forward fitness apparel, a Lululemon gift card is a fail-proof present.

Aveda Hand Relief™

My personal favorite hand cream in all of the world. My mom got me hooked on Hand Relief™, and I always have a small travel size in my purse. Except for right now (hint hint, Santa). Aveda has a Foot Relief™, too, which is also divine.

It Was Me All Along

Another (New York Times Best Seller) book — this time from fellow food blogger, Andie Mitchell.

“A heartbreakingly honest, endearing memoir of incredible weight loss by a young food blogger who battles body image issues and overcomes food addiction to find self-acceptance.”

Hi there!

My birthday twin, Tina (Carrots ‘N’ Cake) recently shared a “Currently” blog post and, since we are “twins”, I was inspired to do the same.

Current Celebration // My 26th birthday on Friday!

Current Confession // At 26 years of age, I still can not successfully braid my own hair. If only I could master Lee’s fit girl hair styles – so cute!

Current Product Find // Perfect Bars

Current Plan // To plan for Europe

Current Book // Nada. I would love to read Andi‘s New York Times Best Seller, It Was Me All Along — I’ve only head incredible reviews.

Current Purchase // Car Insurance — oh, the joys of adulthood. And “heirloom tomato” pj boxers.

Current Drink // Spindrift Grapefruit Seltzer + Ice + Fresh Lime + Vodka(!)

Current Holy Moly // Now that I’m finally traveling to France, I wish I could remember something — anything! — from taking 2 years of French.

Current Show // The Bachelorette (there are some hunks this season!)

Current Want // A new camera — Canon or Nikon?

Current Obsession // These hemp tahini date bars. I’ve made ’em 3x.

Your turn — pick 2 or 3 to answer!

“Anxiety is a symptom, not a diagnosis.” - Dr. “Anxiety is a symptom, not a diagnosis.” - Dr. George Papanicolaou

It’s no secret that I suffer from chronic anxiety and panic attacks. Or at least I don’t intend it to be. Because while there can be a lot of shame and embarrassment around both of these, I know I’m not alone in my experiences. While I’ve leaned toward the more anxious side most of life, my bothersome anxiety has steadily increased since my mid-twenties - some periods being worse than others.

It’s not a complete surprise that my mental health has taken a dip during my first full gloomy Seattle winter — in the height of a pandemic.

Here are some ways I have been nurturing my body & mind as I work with a team of practitioners to work on understanding the **root causes** of my panic, and to live with more ease.

» no coffee (not even decaf)

» meditating regularly - I’m using @insighttimer

» gentle movement

» weekly therapy sessions

» attempting cold showers (this is hard for me!): if you’re interested, you can research how this impacts the nervous system

» working with a naturopathic doctor to focus on gut + hormone health

» trying a new Rx - a decision that took years of consideration

» lastly, opening myself up to vulnerable conversations/sharing my story and my experiences in efforts to reduce any shame and connect with others

I am not my anxiety.

Leavenworth, WA • Where To Eat🍴 I was expect Leavenworth, WA • Where To Eat🍴

I was expecting all things beer, brats and pretzels in Leavenworth (not really my jam) 🍺🥨🧀, and while there’s plenty of it, I was delighted to find plenty of delicious eats for my “foodie” taste.

We went to all of these 3 places more than once during our quick stay - highly recommend!

☕️ @argonautespressobar: Located at one end of Front Street, this adorable coffee bar has delicious espresso drinks, breakfast items, and the best view!

🥐 @tumwaterbakery: Incredible pastries, avocado toast on artisanal bread that’s a feast for your eyes... and I’m eager to go back and try their wood-fired pizza!

🍜 @yodelinbroth: Literally some of the best food I’ve had (ever!), and that’s saying a lot. I had the Yodelin soup with housemade wild PNW halibut bone coconut curry broth, udon noodles, heaps of veggies and wild salmon - it was nourishing to my core as we ate it outside in 30 degree weather. I even bought some of the broth to recreate this meal at home, yum!

winter wonderland getaway ✔️ We had snow much winter wonderland getaway ✔️

We had snow much fun exploring the picturesque Bavarian town of Leavenworth, WA for a much-needed mid-week getaway to the mountains. 🏔

We stayed in a cozy little cabin @logecamps right on the Wenatchee River (one day I’ll be back to stay at the stunning @phleavenworth), played in Enchantment Park, took a drive to Lake Wenatchee, and discovered some of the best food downtown (I’m saving my food recs for another post).

Nestled between the snow-capped Cascade Mountains with the river running through town, it’s quite magical in the middle of winter. ❄️ I’m already dreaming of heading back for some summer adventures!
I’m sure Koba is wondering why we ever lived in I’m sure Koba is wondering why we ever lived in Florida for two years.
