Guess who did their first official crossfit WOD (workout of the day) to-day!?
Here’s the story… since that sad sad day, I’ve been searching for my new home (a.k.a. a “replacement” for the WREC). I’ve tried four gyms in the past two and half weeks, in addition to a few at-home workouts and tire-flipping, sandbag-slamming workouts. Until today, I haven’t found place that fits. It’s nearly impossible to match anything up to the WREC facility. I try telling myself over and over again that I will have to settle with something that isn’t necessarily 5-star resort status. Easier said than done.
So the search continued this afternoon…
Hello, Crossfit. It wasn’t that I was afraid to try the current fitness craze. I’ve only waited this dang long because I knew I’d love it. I was afraid of OCD (Obsessive Crossfit Disorder). After all, I already wear my love for burpees and box jumps on my sleeve.
My first official crossfit workout was FRAN-tastic. I walked in clueless as to what a thruster was. I left saturated in sweat, sore, and smiling :)
Warm-up
3 sets:
- 10 burpess
- 10 air squats
- 10 sit-ups
Strength
- 4 x 15 v-ups (1 min. rest between)
WOD: “Messed Up” Fran* (21-15-9)
- 800m run
- 21 thrusters @ 45#
- 21 pull-ups w/ band
- 400m run
- 15 thrusters @ 45#
- 15 pull-ups w/ band
- 200m run
- 9 thrusters @ 45#
- 9 pull-ups w/ band
*Normally Fran does not include running. Of course the WOD today included running outdoors in the 95F heat.
I haven’t committed to a gym yet, but the search may have temporarily ended today. There are many things I’m considering — facility, price, location — but, I am still tossing thoughts back and forth as to what I want my fitness focus to be, as that will dictate my decision and seal the deal.
Stay tuned for a giveaway!
