Let’s see here… where did we leave off…?
Did you miss NYC Part 1: The Wedding?
My whirlwind of a vacation to New York City was entirely exhausting and undeniably exhilarating. If I were to write out every detail of my trip, I predict you’d be exhausted just from reading about it, so… once again, I’ll let the photos tell most of the story.
My friend/travel partner in crime and I took a red eye flight to NYC on Wednesday night after an eight-hour work day (would not necessarily recommend this). We were spent by the time we arrived into the city — little to no sleep on the planes plus a three-hour time difference will do that to you. But because we are “young and crazy”, we freshened up with showers after landing at my friend’s Manhattan apartment and ventured out into the Lower East Side.
My camera failed to make it out of my purse until the evening; I was too caught up in the splendor of my new surroundings.
We walked all afternoon until our feet ached, stopping for poor “New York pizza” and hot chai lattes at Pick Me Up Cafe in Thompkins Square.
Late afternoon, we hailed a taxi to take us west, where we stumbled upon Chelsea Market and walked The Highline before meeting my childhood girlfriend for dinner and drinks…
>> Please excuse the blurry iPhone pics thrown into the mix.
Miss Kendra walkin’ The High Line.
I highly recommend The Meatball Shop (there are five in NYC)!
Due to the dark lighting and chit-chatting, I didn’t snap a photo of my veggie balls or side of coconut kale and kabocha squash.
At 230 Fifth (voted best heated rooftop bar)
My bowl of decadently rich hot cocoa was certainly worth its $10 price tag with this view.
My girlfriend (and recent New Yorker) since junior high!
We were up at the crack of dawn Friday morning to make our way to The Today Show (high on Kendra’s NYC bucket list). The two of us Cali girls – surprisingly – navigated the subway/train to make it to the start of the show by 7:00AM.
Once we got our second of fame on national television, we continued our 10-hour day (by foot!) of continuous exploration…
Up and up we went to the Top of the Rock — what a view!
The magnificent Central Park from up above.
Times Square madness — seen it, done it.
Central Park is next… more to come!
