Hey you! Happy Monday.
Catching up from the weekend?
I was thinking about how I share recipes with you all from Quinoa Butternut Squash Kale Salad (that’s a mouthful!) to Chewy Chocolate Ginger Cookies, but I haven’t talked much about how I normally eat – day to day – as the Nutrition Nut.
My main grocer is Trader Joe’s. I buy approximately 75% of my groceries there, supplementing with a few cheaper bulk items at the discount grocery across the street, and a few visits to the local co-op each month. I’ve been on a roll with the farmer’s market lately, too, stocking my reusable bag with fruits and veggies every Saturday. I will never get tired of that weekend ritual… until the rain arrives.
I created a shopping list for my kitchen staples. I try to eat seasonally (for the most part), so this list is what you’ll find in my kitchen during the fall season. My list for summer would look different, as my kitchen is stocked with stone fruit, tomatoes, summer squash and berries.
Note: I don’t buy all of the above items every week, especially the grains, nuts and seeds. I deplete my fresh fruits and vegetables nearly every seven days, but other items such as almond milk, cheese, eggs, and potatoes/squash can last me a couple of weeks or more.
I could chat about grocery shopping and my philosophy on fueling my body all.day.long. Instead, YOU ask the questions and I’ll answer! Amounts, brands, organics…
Happy eating!
