If you follow on Instagram, you may have seen that P and I were in Tahoe for the weekend to celebrate his birthday. We camped for two nights in South Lake Tahoe at The Campground by the Lake (which could be considered urban camping to some, smothered between the tourist town attractions on Highway 50).
We roasted vegan marshmallows – to smoosh between classic Honey Maid grahams and chunk of 72% dark chocolate – sitting on a log by the campfire (because somehow we forgot the chairs!); took a carefully slow drive along narrow Highway 89 as to not hit the courageously strong triathletes cycling up the mountain road; swiftly kayaked around Meek’s Bay; and enjoyed a picnic lunch at Sugar Pine Point State Park — all the while admiring Lake Tahoe’s infamous crystal clear, cool blue water (what’s left of it anyway — the drought is terribly concerning).
We finished off the week, Sunday night, with an outdoor concert at Harvey’s – Dierks Bentley (including Kip Moore, Canaan Smith, Maddie & Tae). #soundsofsummer
I am determined to go back to Lake Tahoe once per summer – to hike, to SUP, to swim, to kayak…
Should I jump in?
Sure!
Until next time Lake Tahoe… stay blue!
