Mornin’!
I like to keep the posts I write on Nutrition Nut centered around the general themes of food/recipes, exercise/fitness, and self-love/wellbeing, but I also enjoy sharing bits and pieces of my life, regardless if they fall under the category of “healthy living.”
I’ve found that some of my favorite types of posts from the blogs that I read are when the authors share personal details about their lives. It allows further connection between readers and writers, bloggers and friends. Of course, there are always times to keep things private, but it spices things up when someone shares a detail or story about their life you would have never known.
With that, I’ve got a fun (or so I think) post for you; it was inspired by the “I Bet You Didn’t Know…” series seen on Carrots ‘N’ Cake. (BTW, all images sourced from Google images.)
I bet you didn’t know…
I went dog sledding on top of a glacier in Alaska (way back when in 2001).
This is one of my fondest traveling memories to date. How could I forget sledding behind Iditarod dogs on a glacier in the middle of Juneau, Alaska!? The helicopter ride, listening to Enya, over jagged yet gentle glaciers may have been the the best part though.
I was in a national Chevy car commercial with my mom when I was five years old.
A family friend of ours, working in the cable business, suggested our whole family “try out” for the commercial shooting in our area. My dad, mom, brother and I did so, but they selected just the gals ;) I remember hours and hours of prep and outfit changes, all for a split-second shot. My blink of fame aided my college education, so no complaints here.
I named our family dog after my favorite nurse, Phoebe, when I was in the hospital.
Sort of an unusual name for a pup, but – clearly – there was a lot of meaning behind it. I usually called her “Phebes” for short; it fit her well.
I’ve never been on a roller coaster.
I’ve been to Disneyland (once) and county fairs, but I’m referring to the real deal. If I was presented the opportunity, I think I would go on a ride just to say I have (and live a little!), but I’m in no urgent rush to get flipped upside down at an uncomfortably fast speed.
I am obsessed with checking my email.
I have two email accounts (not including my work email): one for the blog, and one for personal communications. I am a bit obsessive about having an empty, or tightly organized at the very least, inbox. Gmail/Google rocks. I can’t imagine life without it!
The Bachelor/Bachelorette is my guilty pleasure.
I don’t have cable, but I watch it online. I know “reality” TV is anything but, but my eyes turn into water works every finale.
